What is the NADC Hydrant App?

NADC (National Association of Drainage Contractors) and eviFile have worked in partnership to help solve a major problem in the drainage industry.

NADC contractors have been getting fines for taking water illegally and the fines have not been small – generally from £4500 upwards! The problem is it is not always easy to determine which hydrant belongs to each water company.

In order to help water contractors, NADC and eviFile in partnership developed an innovative tech solution. Together they have developed a powerful, informative and easy to use Hydrant App that works on both IOS and Android devices.

The NADC Hydrant App has been designed to provide a long-term solution to the need for multiple standpipes, and the burden of additional costs incurred when working across water company regions.  In the short term it provides immediate benefits, including flexible management capabilities, digital assurance to protect against illegal use of hydrants and possible £1000+ fines. Field users have also seen a reduction in travel time / costs through our easy-to-use location features.

Other benefits of the NADC Hydrant App include:

  • Hydrant use data capture

  • Faulty hydrant reporting

  • Robust reports on team activity, extractions and standpipe usage

  • Ability to digitally record, report on and share extractions

  • Easy-to-use location features

  • Growing database of washout assets – currently we are over 12,000 – soon to be 125,000 + with the new Thames Hydrant data.

  • Critical information stored within each washout asset

  • Search for Hydrants by postcode (a new update!)

The Hydrant App saves a lot of time, is easy to use and reduces costs. Below are some screenshots from within the app showing some of the various features.

App Demonstration

eviFile in conjunction with the NADC have produced a short video showcasing the benefits to both drainage contractors and water companies when using the innovative application.

The Hydrant App has been designed to reduce cross-border issues when drawing water. Companies can be fined heavily for using the wrong hydrant and, in effect, drawing water illegally. The Hydrant App reduces the risk of fines by giving users instant access to critical information, location features to get there and ability to digitally record and share hydrant usage.

The video demonstration details the efficiency of use and tracking benefits of using the NADC Hydrant App.

How much does the app cost?

Originally the NADC Hydrant App was £20 a month per user – However, as the app has attracted more users and water companies it has now dropped to just £12.50 a month! A brilliant investment for water companies when you consider the cost of getting hit with a huge fine for illegal hydrant use.

Where Can I download the NADC Hydrant App?

On Android you can download the app via Google Play and for IOS you can download via the app store – The NADC Hydrant app is powered by the eviFile app and once logged in it will direct you to the NADC Hydrant App from there.

How do I sign up?
