Housing Studies Charitable Trust Seeking New Trustees

Calling all individuals with a keen interest in the study of housing and a desire to contribute to the future of The Housing Studies Charitable Trust (HSCT). We are looking for three new members to join our Board of Trustees, a vital part of our governance. This is an opportunity to shape how HSCT can support housing scholarship.

The HSCT is a small charity with the objective of advancing the education of the public in all matters related to housing studies. The HSCT oversees the spending of resources, generated by the leading international academic journal Housing Studies, on activities that support our charitable objectives. It provides financial support a range of activities and organisations, including Housing Studies.

About the role:

As a trustee, you will work with other trustees to determine the strategic direction of HSCT; make decisions on allocating resources; and ensure that it always operates in line with good governance principles. We engage professional support staff to guide our activities and initiatives.

Trustees are appointed for a term of three years in the first instance, with the possibility for renewal to a maximum term of nine years.

About the person:

Trustees should possess a broad understanding of the field of housing studies; value demonstrating the policy relevance and public benefit of housing studies; and have a commitment to sustaining and nurturing housing studies as an academic discipline. Trustees will possess the capacity for long-term planning and goal setting and an understanding of financial management.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive board of trustees that reflects the communities we serve. We particularly welcome applications from women and from individuals from minoritised backgrounds, individuals who are disabled and/or who identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

We welcome applicants without prior trustee experience and will provide you with support and training to help you navigate your trustee responsibilities.
